Kitten Kaboodle Society is a 501 (c) 3 Non-profit organization. All support and tax deductible donations enable us to continue our mission of helping homeless cats.
Our Mission is to alleviate the suffering of stray, homeless, abandoned, and feral cats. We help save cats by providing veterinary care and finding them forever homes. Our home is a sanctuary for special needs cats who, for medical, behavioral, or physical reasons are not adopted.
In Summer of 2009, we came upon a beautiful "creamsicle" kitty at a nearby high school. The school custodian told us that every time he threw a trash bag in their outside dumpster, a little orange cat would jump out of the bushes to search for food! We trapped the stray boy and took him to our veterinarian for examination and clean-up. We named him Bonnie Prince Charlie. Unfortunately, Charlie would test positive for Feline Immunodeficiency Virus or FIV.
Charlie lived with us for 6 healthy and happy years with no issues resulting from FIV. However, in the summer of 2015, he would suddenly develop a persistent fever, one which was unresponsive to antibiotics, and the source of which would never be determined, despite many tests. Charlie then became the first cat in history to undergo human HIV treatment protocol - Highly Active Antiretroviral Therapy (HAART). HAART is a medication protocol used to treat HIV in humans, and though Charlie's viral load would decrease while on the HAART protocol, it was unfortunately too late for him. In September 2015, The FIV infection triggered the onset of severe anemia. Three back-to-back blood transfusions could not restore normal blood counts and he developed sudden heart failure and passed away in October 2015.
Charlie was an extremely gentle, smart, and most beloved cat, who changed our path in life. We miss him every day. And though he would only live a few precious years with us, in that short time he would teach us how much important work was still needed to help the stray cat community all around us. It is through Bonnie Prince Charlie, and in his honor, that we established the Kitten Kaboodle Society.
